A mountaineer head carved into mountains above APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINEERS in gold & black. With the new millennium fast approaching, as well as new North Carolina laws preventing tobacco usage in state-funded buildings, Yosef received a 21st century makeover. A modernized Yosef logo & typeface made its grand debut in 1999. The pipe was removed from his mouth to portray a cleaner anti-tobacco image for the university.
