What's the story of the Omaha Storm Chasers name and logos?

Following nearly 40 seasons (off and on) of being known as the Omaha Royals, the team decided to change their name for 2011, their inaugural season at Werner Park the team's new stadium. The Royals received over 1500 submissions via their official website and Storm Chasers was selected as the winning choice.

"The team name recognizes the importance of weather in the metro area and across the state," said VP and GM Martie Cordaro. "It also, in a whimsical way, pokes a little fun at the variety of weather we experience here."

Along with the new name the Storm Chasers unveiled two new mascots, Stormy and Vortex to join Casey who had been with the Royals previously.
