The original Atlanta Falcons logo showed a black falcon bird from the side, one wing down and one claw extended. The Falcons used this logo for nearly 40 years until the end of the 2002 season. In 1989, the bird was flipped to face the right, as shown here, which effectively created a shape of the letter F, a black outline was also added at that time.
