Before taking on the name Montreal Maroons, the team (known simply as the Montreals) used this logo featuring the city name of MONTREAL in maroon lettering. The colour of the team uniforms worn during their inaugural 1924-25 NHL season led to the official adoption of the Maroons nickname for the 1925-26 season.
