In April 2016, USC unveiled a design evolution incorporating consistent colors, logos, lettering, and numerals for a unified look for all Trojan sports in collaboration with Nike. The SC Shield used for track was slightly modified to to include the new SC interlock. The original shield has been used since at least the 1970s. Colors remained the same Cardinal and Gold.
