A dark blue shield with light blue accents features Minnesota in text at the top and stars in text in the banner at the bottom and has a yellow star placed at the center. Also in french near the top is written L'Etoile du Nord which translated in english means star of the north. L'Etoile du Nord is the Minnesota State motto.
