In April 2007, the school announced that UCFs teams will again be referred to as the Knights, utilizing the original nickname chosen by the student body and faculty in 1970. In May 2007, UCF launched its new brand-identity efforts, which include new logos and fonts. The new UCF logos and font are a result of a five-month collaborative effort between various offices within the University, Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) and Rickabaugh Graphics, Inc. The Primary Character Logo includes a new Knightro logo wielding a sword above the letters UCF. Colors used are metallic gold and gray.
